LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) is on the scene of the second vehicle crash on Monday on US-50 near Cave Rock. The first crash occurred earlier in the day when a single vehicle traveling eastbound crossed into the westbound lane and went down an embankment. The driver has non-life-threatening injuries, according to NHP, and they were transported to the hospital. Impairment is not suspected.
The second crash occurred at 2:16 p.m., when a car traveling in the westbound lane rear-ended a car in slow or stopped traffic, causing a three-vehicle collision. There were minor, non-life-threatening injuries involved. The lanes were closed but are now reopening, according to NHP.
Both crashes are under investigation.
Temperatures were in the high 50s/low 60s at the time of the incidents.
